This beautiful and ancient grey stone building intrigues us to ask questions. What lies at the top of the interesting curved stairway? What awaits us behind the heavily worn door? Is the old cart vital to their day to day livelihood? How many generations have traversed these cobblestones? And, who tends the fragrant flowers in their rustic pots? As no one comes out to answer our questions, we imagine the answers we need to satisfy our curiosity and allow us to enjoy this tranquil scene. Artist's Statement: My photographic images and paintings are not necessarily meant to be without imperfections in the subject matter. If a leaf shows nibbles from an insect, for example, I believe this just adds to the whole and enables the viewer to relate and feel more a part of the experience. We are not perfect creatures and other things in nature are not always perfect either. Thus, I believe we connect to the imperfect on a subconscious level as imperfection is something we all have in common. One of my goals in art is to create beauty from the ordinary. A way I accomplish this is to photograph the subject to bring out the finer nuances, the subtle beauty that is oftentimes overlooked when viewing from afar. My current art is...
